More tourists arrivals expected this Chinese New Year
The Department of Tourism (DOT) here expects a surge of Chinese tourists with the forthcoming Chinese New Year.
Already, resorts and hotels here reported Tuesday of increasing reservations as Chinese New Year approaches.
"Some of the travel coordinators reported to us that they will be bringing a total of 400 Chinese tourists for the New Year," said Tim Ticar, the DOT acting officer.
Last year, the DOT had forecast that Chinese tourists may top the number of foreign arrivals but was affected by the standoff on the Scarborough Shoal.
Currently, however, the arrival of Chinese tourists is already starting to pick.
This resort island was as one of the world's best romantic destination by a Hong Kong based travel magazine.
