Boracay exec invited to attend World Summit on Cruise Ships
The Department of Tourism (DOT) has invited the Aklan provincial government for the third world summit on cruise ships.
Niven Maquirang, Aklan Jetty Port administrator, said that the provincial government will be sending him to attend the world summit in Florida, USA this March.
"The DOT has extended to us the invitation because Boracay is bent on becoming the Philippine Cruise Ship destination in the days to come," Maquirang said Wednesday.
Last year, the Caribbean Cruise Ship "Princess of the Seas" arrived in Boracay that carried tourists coming from the different parts of the Asia-Pacific region.
This year, at least four different companies have expressed of sending cruise ships to this resort island as part of their world tour.
"We in the Aklan provincial government are targeting to welcome at least five cruise ships every year and this will be enough to sustain the Boracay tourism industry," said Maquirang.
