The Aklan Provincial Police Office (APPO) was told to be ready for a possible 'last- minute' visit of the Miss Universe candidates.
SPO1 Nida Lachica-Gregas, public information officer of the APPO, said Friday that the Department of Tourism (DOT) asked them just to be ready just in case.
"Based on the advise, the Miss Universe candidates may visit the Kalibo Sto. Nino Ati-atihan Festival on January 14. They will then proceed to Boracay for anther event," Gregas said.
The inclusion of Kalibo Ati-atihan and Boracay Island are not in the original itinerary of Miss Universe but the DoT is currently doing its best to bring Miss Universe in the province of Aklan.
In earlier interview, Aklan Governor Florencio Miraflores said the Aklan provincial government is not keen on spending the hosting of a Miss Universe event.
"Our hands are already full as Boracay will play host to the golden anniversary of the ASEAN Summit in February," said Miraflores.
