Red-carpet welcome for APEC delegates

A red-carpet welcome is being prepared for delegates in the Asia-Pacific Economic Coooperatio Summit in this island resort next month.
Delegates arriving at the Kalibo International Airport in Kalibo, Aklan will pass by the newly constructed Tangalan-Ibajay road where there is less traffic.
“Delegates will be treated to fresh sceneries along the diversion road, which features pine trees and a beach along the highway,” said Rep. Teodorico Haresco Jr.
Upon reaching Boracay, the delegates will be taken by service vehicles.
The island, one of the best beach destinations in the world, will host the Second Senior Officials and Ministers Responsible on Trade.
“We expect (Aklan) province to earn around P1 billion from food, services, transport and other related expenses during the event,” said Haresco.
Various law enforcement agencies have laid out measures to secure one of the biggest gatherings of economic ministers in Asia-Pacific, the congressman said.
The local police earlier said they will deploy 3,000 uniformed personnel.
