The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) believes that the province of Aklan is now feeling the effect of the Association of South East Asian Nation (ASEAN) Economic Integration.
Diosdado Cadena, DTI provincial director, said that the ASEAN Economic Integration can already be felt in the locally made products, handicrafts and agricultural products made by the local entrepreneurs.
The DTI has spearheaded the opening of the week long trade fair and Pina Fiber Festival for the occasion of Aklan 59th year anniversary.
“We are targeting Php5 million in sales of world class products and designs now available at the trade fair,” said Cadena.
The DTI believes that because of the growing tourism industry in Boracay, Aklanon entrepreneurs are conscious of the global market potential.
“Even our students feel the influence of ASEAN Integration. Many of them are choosing careers which have huge potentials for work abroad,” said Cadena.
