Indonesia commits to sisterhood with Boracay

The province of Bali, Indonesia has affirmed its commitment to push for the sisterhood agreement with this resort island.
R. Toto Waspodo, minister counselor and first secretary of social and cultural affairs of the Indonesian embassy to the Philippines, was here yesterday as guest of honor in Aklan’s 59th anniversary.
The proposal for a sisterhood agreement started sometime in 2013.
“Both the provinces of Bali and Boracay have similar interests in the proposed sisterhood agreement. The government of Indonesia is seriously considering the proposal for the development of trade and tourism,” said Waspodo in his speech.
Aklan Governor Florencio Miraflores, in an interview said, the Indonesian government is cautious amidst the possible execution of Filipina maid Mary Jane Veloso in Indonesia.
Veloso has been sentenced to death after she was convicted for allegedly bringing in illegal drugs in Indonesia./
