Army to build houses for the Atis in Boracay
The Engineering Batallion of the 3rd Infantry Division, Philippine Army is preparing to build houses for the Atis in this resort island.
Building these houses is supported by the Asisi Foundation. Among its executives is Viel Aquino, the presidential sister.
In an information, the Asisi Foundation said it continues to solicit funds from sponsors because of their limited funding.
The foundation needs at least P80,000 to build one housing units for the Atis.
The houses will be built in the lot promised to them by the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP).
The lot is still being contested by several private land claimants in court.
For potential sponsors, they could inquire at the Holy Rosary Parish in Barangay Balabag, Boracay or at the office of the Daughters of Charity of St Vincent De Paul in Bolabog, Boracay.
