DPWH sets P1.6B for Aklan infrastructure projects in 2018

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Aklan Engineering District expect to implement P1.6 billion worth of various infrastructure projects in the province for the year 2018.

In a document obtained by the BusinessMirror, some projects to be funded include the construction and/or improvement of access roads leading to trade, industries and economic zones, including tourism.

Among them was the improvement of Numancia-Lezo provincial road with an appropriation of P80 million. Another is the Poblacion Batan-Mandong-Napti-Camanci-Sapian, Capiz, boundary in support of the coconut-processing facility in Batan costing P80 million.

Earlier, the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) in Aklan endorsed the Numancia-Lezo project in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in Aklan.

Officials of the DTI-Aklan last weekend visited the pottery-making project in Lezo, being considered as the main beneficiary for the improvement of the Numancia-Lezo road project.

Ramel Buncalan, PCCI-Aklan president, said the Numancia-Lezo road-improvement project would boost the pottery industry in the town of Lezo.

Other DPWH infrastructures set for next year are the construction of multipurpose buildings, construction of flood-control structure and the concreting of farm-to-market roads from the 17 municipalities of the province.

  1. While we are doing all of this new work, can we fix all of the potholes on Boracay Island, before someone gets killed?

Flooding and sewerage issues also need attention. Thank you!
