OFW TESTED FOR MERS-COV
An adult male Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) reportedly underwent health examination for Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV) in a hospital in Kalibo, Aklan. Aklan Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Cornelio Cuachon Jr., said the unnamed OFW was recently tested at the Dr. Rafael S. Tumbukon Memorial Hospital. The OFW was among those who boarded a plane that recently landed in the country with two nurses suspected to be MERS-CoV-afflicted. Cuachon advised Aklanons to stay calm. “Our populace has nothing to worry as our health surveillance referral system is activated,” he assured.
