The Department of Tourism (DoT) has expressed satisfaction over the continued positive performance of this resort island, which is described as "energetic" destination.
Acting officer of the DoT-Boracay Kristoffer Leo Vellete, in an interview on Thursday afternoon, said that Boracay has registered more than 1.2 million tourists from January to July this year.
"This showed that Boracay remains unaffected with the ongoing martial law declaration in the South. We remain positive of the Boracay tourism for this year," he said.
The DoT is currently preparing for September, the month when the so -called "super peak season " starts. The "super peak season" for Boracay usually ends June of the succeeding year.
Vellete was in Kalibo on Thursday afternoon as guest of the Sangguniang Bayan in its regular weekly session.
He said that while they are promoting Boracay as an energetic destination because of its rich night life activities. The town of Kalibo can serve as a relaxing destination for both foreign and local tourists
