Fire engulfs 100 homes in Boracay



 A fire on world-famous beach destination Boracay in Malay, Aklan broke out at around 2  p.m. Wednesday (June 17, 2015).

Based on initial reports, an estimated 100 homes have been razed in the Talipapa area, where the old market used to be located.

Initial reports also say that the fire started in a boarding house, although this has yet to be confirmed.

As of press time, island fire personnel are still battling the fire although they are having a hard time controlling the blaze because of strong winds.

The fire is in an area not near where rsworts or hotels catering to tourists are located.
