3 Taiwanese drown in central Philippines


BORACAY ISLAND- Three Taiwanese tourists drowned and 27 others were rescued after their boat capsized off the central Philippine resort island of Boracay on Wednesday, Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said.
The authorities said the incident happened around 1:30 p.m. local time when the boat with 30 Taiwanese tourists on board capsized on the rough sea.
According to PCG, 27 Taiwanese tourists were rescued, but 3 others, identified as Chen Sso Ching, 2, Chang Hai Ling, 48 and Lei Yu Mei, 71, died.
Mei died on the spot, while Ching and Ling were declared dead after they had been sent to a hospital, PCG said.
