The company of Filipino-Chinese tycoon Lucio Tan is behind the ongoing reclamation project at Barangay Pook in Kalibo town, Aklan, an official said.
Niven Maquirang, jetty port administrator, said the company is planning to start construction in the second half of this year.
The reclaimed area will be developed into a wharf for fastcraft bound for Boracay and vice versa, a hotel and fine dining restaurants, among others. The Pook reclamation is only a few meters away from the Kalibo International Airport.
It was learned that the project eyes to reclaim ten hectares in the coming years.
Earlier, the Aklan provincial government said that the Pook Reclamation Project would be converted into a Pook Ecological Tourism Development of the province.
